LOCATION<\/strong>
\nWolin Island and Trzebiat\u00f3w Coast are separated by the Dziwna \u2013 one of three straits connecting Szczecin Lagoon with the Baltic Sea. This is the historical centre of former Western Pomerania, a place where the Pomeranian statehood and culture shaped, starting from Jomsborg factory founded by the Vikings in present day Wolin, to the bishops\u2019 capital in Kamie\u0144 Pomorski and the Norbertine Order in Trzebiat\u00f3w, one of the most resilient monasteries. It is here, in Trzebiat\u00f3w that in 1534 the Pomeranian states decided to become converted into Protestantism. Kamie\u0144 Pomorski (Germ. Cammin in Pommern), 53\u00b058\u203208\u2033N 14\u00b046\u203245\u2033E, a resort located on the Dziwna Strait is the main town of the region.<\/p>\n

SIGHTSEEING<\/strong>
\nThe recommended landmarks are situated within 40 km from Kamie\u0144 Pomorski, on the coastline between Trzebiat\u00f3w and Wolin. As far as connections are concerned, we may choose car or bike connections, although route R10 runs farther to the north. Sacral buildings in Kamie\u0144 Pomorski and Trzebiat\u00f3w, such as cathedrals are open during the day (admission payable in Kamie\u0144). The ruins of churches in Trz\u0119sacz and Trzebiat\u00f3w are open to visitors round the clock, similarly to the cemetery in Wolin. It is worth visiting local museums in Wolin and Trz\u0119sacz. The village of the Vikings in Wolin is open from April until October.<\/p>\n

ATTRACTIONS<\/strong>
\nKamie\u0144 Pomorski<\/strong> is a health resort and the former seat of the Pomeranian bishops, with impressive Gothic St John\u2019s Cathedral with its precious furnishings, housing a tiny museum. In the town there is also 15th century St Nicholas\u2019 Church erected on the former cemetery referred to as \u017balnik. The legendary Royal Boulder is situated in Buniewice<\/strong>, near the northern shore of Chrz\u0105szczewska Island. Its meaning in pagan time remains unknown, however, it provided the name Kamie\u0144 to the nearby town. Wolin<\/strong>, or Jomsborg medieval trading post, is now a small town popularising the remote history in the Slavs and Vikings\u2019 Village Open-air Museum. In the centre there is a runic stone commemorating the place of death of Harald Bluetooth. Near the town towers Hangman Hill with a monument to Tryg\u0142aw and a 9th-12th vast kurgan cemetery. An attraction of Trz\u0119sacz<\/strong> is the ruins of a Gothic church the major part of which was devoured by the sea. The high cliff and the panorama terrace allow a view of the remnants of a temple and the so called Depths of the Dead, the former cemetery. The history of the church is presented in the local museum. Trzebiat\u00f3w<\/strong> is one of few towns of Pomerania that remained undamaged in 1945. Above it there is the Temple of the Divine Maternity of Our Lady, the highest Pomeranian church and present day St Mary\u2019s Sanctuary. Relics of the former Monastery of the Norbertine Sisters (Trzebiat\u00f3w-Wyszk\u00f3w) have been preserved on the Rega River, near the railway station.<\/p>\n
