LOCATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lubmin is a small resort with a broad sandy beach, located closely to Greifswald on the coast of Greifswald Lagoon and Bay. It is located on the bayside road, less than 30 minutes\u2019 drive from Greifswald and around 2 hours\u2019 drive to the main German \u2013 Swedish ferry connection in Sassnitz. For most of the year this place is not crowded and provides northern wind exposure. The resort and surfing hotspot are both located in Meklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany, 54\u00b008\u2032N\u00a013\u00b037\u2032E.<\/p>\n

LUBMIN SURFING HOTSPOT <\/strong><\/p>\n

Located west of the marina, Lubmin\u2019s surfing hotspot is a perfect place for beginners and benefits from south-westerly and north-easterly winds. The broad beach with its untypical lack of tourist congestion, even in the summer, makes for a peaceful and undisturbed surf. Waters here are shallow and relatively safe, making it quite child-friendly. There are more surfing hotspots around the Greifswald Bay which are easily accessible by car (some of which are located on R\u00fcgen Island).<\/p>\n

ATTRACTIONS <\/strong><\/p>\n

The village of Lubmin is surrounded by interesting places, including historical Greifswald and Wolgast, the fishermen\u2019s village Freest and the nearby Pennemunde Historical Museum (which features information about the launching of V1 and V2 missiles during WW2), on the island of Usedom. There are white fleet excursions available in the region.<\/p>\n

Lubmin is also the location of a closed nuclear power plant, the largest in the former GDR, which used soviet technologies. The last reactor was closed in 1990.<\/p>\n

Compared to R\u00fcgen Island, Lubmin and its surrounding beaches are less crowded in the summertime and so offer surfers more personal space. The town also offers numerous local culinary delights.<\/p>\n
