14. Drawa Kayak Float

LOCATION

Drawa is a popular aquatic trail that serves extraordinary landscapes. It is a tributary of Noteć that begins its course at Krzywe Lake in nature reserve Dolina Pięciu Jezior. Then it flows across Drawski Landscape Park, Drawieński National Park and Drawski forest.

DIVERSE FLOAT ROUTE

Kayak floats on Drawa usually starts from Stary Drawsk, where Drahim Castle overlook the village. The sturdiest kayakers start from Czaplinek and they cross the lake, often contending the wind. Water is so clean that we can see the river bottom with no effort. As we arrive in a village Głęboczek, we can admire historical watermill. Bory Karwickie are the next and probably the most interesting part of the float. As you enter the water of Lubie lake you find yourself in a paradise. Due to a much steeper gradient flow is much faster. Numerous ravines that Drawa winds through and knocked-down beeches makes this scenery unforgettable. Further, for few kilometres the riverbed is full of Yellow Water-lilies. At one-point kayakers must cross the closed area – Drawski Training Ground where the pass is necessary.

ATTRACTIONS

The Drawa flows near various historical buildings, like Drahim Castle, built in 1360 by the Order of Saint John and now turned into the museum or Wendel’s Castle from the 14th century. What makes an interesting attraction but also a bothering obstacle for kayakers are XIX-century hydro power stations located along the river – in Boroko, in Gus and a smaller one in Młynowo. Kayakers must bypass this obstacle carrying the kayak along the river bank but the industrial vibe these power stations give is priceless A highlight of the flow is entering the Drawieński National Park, where we can truly commune with wild nature. On one of the banks tourists can come across one of the biggest glacial erratic in this area – Wydrzy Głaz.

The Brda river
From this place you can start your kayaking in the Nowa Brda village. The Brda River is accessible to all tourists both for children and adults.
In summer there are many tourists who enjoy the Brda River, which has a very varied landscape, meadows with special flora and marinas on the river banks where you can relax. You can finish your kayaking in Małe Swornegacie with a good restaurant visit, but also rent a bike.
