LOCATION
The largest cemetery in Poland, and the third in Europe, officially opened on 6thDecember 1901. Modeled on the necropolis of Hamburg and Vienna. Currently, the area covers: 172.33 hectares. Since the establishment of the cemetery, over 300,000 people were buried here. Currently, it is one of the most beautiful nature park in the city.

ATTRACTIONS
The main chapel of the cemetery was erected according to the design of Wilhelm Meyer-Schwartau in the years 1900-1902. The building was built with a picturesque, rich facade, inspired by Romanesque architecture. The chapel, built on a Greek cross plan, was crowned with a high dome. Placed on a hill, surrounded by a large free space with a pool and a fountain, has become the central point of the cemetery and its most recognizable element.
In 2010 in the eastern – historical part of the Cemetery, a historic route was marked out allowing to get to know the most interesting places of this part of the necropolis. 21 stations with bilingual information boards were located along the route. The route begins and ends at the gate of the main cemetery, and its passage takes about 1.5-2 hours.
