ATTRACTIONS

The Town Hall – the symbol of Stargard often shown in photos and postcards from the city. It is a Gothic building built in 1250 and originally it was a brick, one-story hall – the merchant’s house. For many years it was used by traders, jurors and local government officials. It is characterized by ogival windows decorated with blends and a tracery west gable. Topped by a gable roof. The building suffered significant damage during a fire in 1540, it was rebuilt in the second half of the 16th century. During World War II, 80% of structures were demolished, and the reconstruction lasted until 1961. In 2000, the front gable gained a clock, while in the same a public bugle call was established, which is played daily from the front façade at 12.00. An interesting fact is that the Stargard Town Hall, as the only one from the Pomeranian town halls, has no arcades.
