ATTRACTION DESCRIPTION

The Museum of the Second World War is a new state cultural institution which was opened in 2017. It has a very special location, 200 metres from the Polish Post Office in Gdańsk which was attacked in September 1939. The concept of the museum was created by many prominent historians. The museum’s building is unique on a global scale. Three areas of the museum represent the past (building’s underground levels), the present (the open space around the building) and the future (a viewing platform). The exhibition presents the Second World War – not only the fate of Poles, but also the experiences of other nations. The history is mainly shown through the fates of ordinary people.
