ATTRACTIONS

The Bytów Castle is a former Teutonic fortress. After it had been renovated in the second half of the 20th century it was opened for tourists, first in the form of the Museum and Cultural Center, and now as a luxurious hotel and restaurant. A gothic castle built on a rectangular plan dates back to the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. It has three round towers – Młyńska, Różana and Polna as well as four-sided Prochowa Tower. The last one was destroyed during the Swedish wars, but it was rebuilt in the 20th century. During its halcyon days, the castle served as the border watchtower, the seat of the Teutonic administration and the inn for the knights arriving from western Europe to Malbork. At the north there is a Monastic House – the main and the oldest gothic building. On the opposite side there is the Ducal House, and at the east – the House of the Widows and the House of the Court.
