LOCATION

Rostock – a port city situated on the Warnow River. It is communicated with main German cities by roads and by city rail. Available also from the sea. There is the Rostock-Laage Airport about 30 kilometres from the city centre. The city is located in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany, 54°05′N 12°08′E.

SCENIC CHARACTER

Rostock is the biggest city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Six centuries ago, the city was famous for its great port, a huge number of ships and breweries producing factories. The main point in the old town is Neuer Markt, surrounded by renaissance mansions.Furthermore you admire the baroque Town Hall (Rostocker Rathaus). St Peter’s Church (Petrikirche) has the enormous tower (117 metres high) which is the lookout tower that provides views of the Baltic Sea and the city nowadays. St Mary’s Church has many pieces of medieval equipment. The city walls – former defence system for many centuries – remind you of the history of the city and make you feel safe.

Like in any big city you may find many bars, cafes, restaurants (with not only local food, but from all over the world), shops, and a tourist information office. Many hotels available at different prices. The highly rated and famous zoo with 4000 animals in 380 species from around the world. Besides – some parks with colourful exotic plants. One of the oldest universities in the world with a campus in the historical part of the town. Guided tours available.
