LOCATION

Stralsund Ozeaneum is located at the historical Stralsund harbour, in a Baltic coastal and Hanseatic town in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, GPS 54°32′N 13°09′E.

ATRACTION DESCRIPTION

Aquarium is open to public since 2008. In 2009 1 million of tourists visited the aquarium, which was more than expected. This sea museum offers an incredible and extraordinary underwater adventure through five interactive exhibitions and aquariums of the northern seas. There is world’s largest whale exhibition with life-size replicas of the ocean giants. Stralsund Aquarium was named European Museum of the Year in 2010. It is famous for having the continent’s biggest exhibition about the Baltic Sea. The largest aquarium can be discovered with 11 meters long wreck, which is a habitat of numerous fish species e.g. corkwings, gilthead seabreams, sea basses.
