LOCATION

The Railway Museum is situated in Kościerzyna. This is a town in the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland, about 50 kilometres from Gdańsk. Kościerzyna is communicated with main Polish cities by roads and railways. 54°07′N 17°59′E.

ATTRACTION DESCRIPTION

After the First World War the Polish authorities decided to build a railway line through Kościerzyna linking Silesia with newly emerging Gdynia. The railway traffic in Kościerzyna was very intense in the interwar period. The Railway Museum in Kościerzyna is a good place for people of all ages, but especially for those who are interested in technology. The exhibition of this museum includes not only steam locomotives, but also diesel and electric locomotives, electric multiple units and diesel multiple units. An old locomotive depot and workshop rooms are also worth seeing.
