LOCATION
ÖlandIsland is located in the south-eastern part of Sweden, near mainland coast of Småland Region. The island is connected by 6 kilometers long bridge with the mainland. Bicycles are not allowed to ride on the bridge, so they can use the ferry Kalmar – Färjestaden on Öland or be carried by bus or car. From Mörbylånga the best is to take the coastal bike route to Borgholm, the capital of Öland. The Island closest regional airport is located in Kalmar. The closest ferry connections are Gdynia – Karlskrona (from Poland), Klaipeda – Karlshamn (from Lithuania). The ferry connections Sassnitz-Trelleborg (from Germany) and Świnoujście – Ystad (from Poland) are located around 200 kms from the island. The Mörbylånga location is: 56°31′N 16°23′E.

OLAND ISLAND BIKING
From Mörbylånga the best is to take the coastal bike route to Borgholm, the capital of Öland. The Route starts form Haga Park Camping site and leads to the north in the proximity to the coast. After a couple of kilometers the route reaches Färjestaden, the bike ferry port to Kalmar. In a couple of minutes the route will pass the route to the bridge and the bike route will go north to Ralla and Borgholm, the capital town of the island. Until Borgholm the route is on the west part of the island. In Borgholm there are old castle ruins and the residence of the present King of Sweden. The way back from Borgholm to Mörbylånga will be mostly on the eastern part of the island and will allow to reach a couple of plains and see Stora Alvar landscape.
ATTRACTIONS
Öland offers many attractions that may enrich the stay in the island. The obvious No 1 is Stora Alvaret, a limestone plain formed 500 million years ago and slowly emerging from the Baltic Sea after the withdrawal of glacier lands. The plain is plenty with marine fossils. The island was also a house of prehistoric men with Gettlinge Gravefield being the most explored. The island hosts castles, churches and even present Swedish Royal Residence. The island is a perfect place to combine sightseeing experiences with surfing and biking activities. The eastern coasts have got broad long white beaches.
