LOCATION

Kalmar is a city situated in the southeast of Sweden by the Baltic Sea and belongs to Småland region full of meadows, dense forests and 5 000 lakes. The city has an international airport and good transport links by roads, rail and buses reaching others cities in Sweden. There is the Öland Bridge – the road bridge that connects Kalmar to the Swedish island Öland.

SCENIC CHARACTER

Being the oldest cities in Sweden, Kalmar also holds the title of the best summer city, famous for its cultural heritage objects, unique landscapes and unforgettable summer events and festivals. Old town has original well-preserved 17-18th century colorful buildings, small cobbled streets, nice shopping area and many local restaurants, bars, cafes. Visit the iconic landmark of the city – Kalmar Castle, the best remained Nordic Renaissance castle in Sweden since 16th century. You can observe many beautiful views and sceneries of the coast from Kalmar Castle, which also is surrounded by lovely gardens and parks where everyone are welcome for beautiful promenades and cosy lunch break on the shore.  There are 19 beaches in Kalmar, and the most popular beach is “Kattrumpan” in the city centre with magnificient view to the Kalmar castle. Ölandsbron, the longest bridge (6km) in Sweden connects Kalmar city with the Öland island, a perfect summer gateway for activities such as hiking, cycling, bird watching, kite-surfing and windsurfing. If you drive in the sunset through the bridge, definitely you get an unforgettable romantic experience. Many scenic and heart touching views of Kalmarsund can be seen on the coast shoreline while camping and spending time in Haga Park.

ATTRACTIONS

Visit the Kalmar Castle, old town, shopping area, the sandy beach “Kattrumpan”. Drive through Öland bridge (“Ölandbrons) and stay overnight in the camping site of Haga Park where you may choose to do some activities such as hiking, cycling, bird watching kite-surfing or windsurfing.
