The museum was founded in the end of the 19th century in Šilo karčemos old manor house, bought by a landlord from Klaipėda Hugo Scheu.

Thanks to a famous East Prussia and Klaipėda region public and cultural enthusiast of Šilutė city, the museum was founded.
He started gathering Klaipėda region ethnographic material and folk songs in his manor house.
It was the first museum in Klaipėda region. Today you can participate in educations about lifestyle and customs of old local people, taste their brewed coffee.
Museum and it’s divisions hold 60 150 exhibits.
