The first mentions of the stronghold come from 1495. Knight Adam Podewils received for his merits as a gift from the prince Bogusław X a tower. The tower was pulled down and a renaissance residence was erected in its place. It was rebuilt twice, in the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. This dynasty was completely dismantled and in its place (in the 1880s) a residence in the Renaissance style (the initiator of the construction was Feliks von Podewils), rebuilt later in the 17th and 19th centuries (this the second intervention, in the Neo-Renaissance style, took place on the initiative of Karl Wilhelm von Riepenhausen).

The object burned down in 1945. Until 1956, the remaining forestry and school functions. Then, in the years 1958-1960, the building was partially secured, but it was destroyed. In the 1970s, it was rebuilt for the purposes of the forest inspectorate, which was discontinued for financial reasons. In 1990, sold to a private owner. A complete renovation was carried out to the state from before 1945, and therefore taking into account all reconstructions. At present there is a Podewils hotel with a beach and bathing jetties.
