LOCATION
All three aforementioned towns are located on the Polish West Pomeranian Coast of the Baltic Sea, about 200 kilometres from Gdansk and 100 kilometres from Szczecin. Dąbki windsurfing spot is found on the coast of Bukowo Lake – an old bay separated from the Baltic Sea by a narrow spit. The village of Dąbki is close to Darłowo (about 10 kilometres) but can only be accessed by road. Dźwirzyno surfing hotspot is located west to Kołobrzeg. And Międzyzdroje hotspot is on Wolin Island, quite close to Swinoujcie – an embarkation point for Polish-Swedish ferry connections (Świnoujscie-Ystad). DĄBKI AND DŹWIRZYNO SURFING HOTSPOTS AND MIĘDZYZDROJE WATER STATION
Dąbki surfing hotspot is located near a sea-fishing port called Darłowo on the Bukowe Lake -the old lagoon of the Baltic Sea. A similar geographical phenomenon can be found in Dźwirzyno, where windsurfing spot is also located on a lagoon lake called Resko Przymorskie. The locations of windsurfing hotspots on the internal lagoon lakes allows surfers to catch strong winds but also organize activities on the shallow, safe waters with flat waves or without any waves at all. In both locations surfing courses are organized for beginners and those who wish to develop their windsurfing or kitesurfing skills. Most of the winds are from the west or north-west, but the wind direction can suddenly change into east or north-east.
ATTRACTIONS
A tourist resort of Darłowo is located not far from the surfing spots – it was once the capital of the Pomeranian Duchy and there are many remains of historical buildings here – the old town itself, the castle, churches and a lighthouse. Darlowo is also home to beautiful beaches and numerous cafes and restaurants. The surfing hotspots are located within a short driving distance from the historical resort city of Kołobrzeg and a former capital of the province- Koszalin. Międzyzdroje is another holiday resort and is located close to Świnoujście. All of the surrounding regions and the coastal areas are suitable for biking and motor vehicles.
