SCENIC CHARACTER
The Skåne province is well known for it’s beautiful scenery, extraordinary nature, outstanding culinary experiences and high quality of living.
There are fertile farmlands, lush forests, clear blue lakes and national parks. 400 kilometres of coastline, extensive plains and deep forests, sandy beaches and rocky precipices wait to be discovered and admired. There are also charming fishing villages, castles, museums, impressive gardens and manors.
ATTRACTIONS
Skåneis the most bike friendly destination in Sweden. There are plenty of possibilities for one day cycling, but also for longer expeditions. Topography of the municipality is ideal for bikers. The area is rather flat and promises breathtaking views because of coastal routes and great beaches nearby. Cycling in Skåne is very diversified and convenient. Tourists can bring their own bicycles, rent a touring bike or buy some second-hand bikes. Outside the urban areas, roads are very rarely used by motorists. In 2018 the route of Kattegattleden in Sweden was crowned ‘Cycle Route of the Year’. There are over 140 trails in Skåne to be explored – 54 hiking trails, 5 long distance trails, 85 pilgrims trails.Some examples of interesting trails are: hiking and biking trail Näsumaleden in the beautiful, tranquil scenery among hills and dales and prehistoric graves, a feeling of wilderness can give Gustavsbergsleden- a 23 km long hiking and mountainbiking trail and Sydostleden – the southeastern trail. There are numerous ways of kayaking and canoeing in Skåne. Extraordinary bird watching in Skåne is recommended in Falsterbo, a place of bird migration centre of northern Europe.
