ÖLAND ISLAND SURFING HOTSPOT

The surfing hotspot is located at Mörbylånga Beach in the southern part of the Island, near Haga Park camping site. The hotspot is very popular in Sweden, the local windsurfing club has got more than 300 members. The place between two lands (mainland and the island ) offers good air streams. There are not many windy days in the Spring-Summer seasonaround Ölandandthe good airflows conditions are assured by the local sea breeze, which is a weather phenomenon in that place. Typically in summertime the sea breeze comes at 13:00 when the sun is high on the horizon. The waters are shallow and waves are flat so it is a very good place for beginners and for wind and kite surfing education. Hotspot waters are also warmer than those on the open sea.

ATTRACTIONS

Öland offers many attractions that may enrich the stay in the island. The obvious No 1 is Stora Alvaret, a limestone plain formed 500 million years ago and slowly emerging from the Baltic Sea after the withdrawal of glacier lands. The plain is plenty with marine fossils. The island was also a house of prehistoric men with Gettlinge Gravefield being the most explored. The island hosts castles, churches and even present Swedish Royal Residence. The island is a perfect place to combine sightseeing experiences with biking tours. The eastern coasts have got broad long white beaches.
