LOCATION
Kristianstad city is a seat of Kristianstad Municipality in Skåne County of Sweden. It is located on Hammar Lake and Helge River. It was founded by King of Denmark and Sweden – Christian IV in 1614. For the last years it has become a commercially developed city. 56°03′N 14°16′E

SCENIC CHARACTER
Kristianstad is unbelievably beautiful by its location. There are varied types of nature to admire: lake, river, unique plants and animals because of the closeness to the Baltic Sea. In a very short distance from the city tourists can find fishing spots, miles of beaches, golf courses and amazing bike routes. Sweden’s lowest point, at 2.41 meters below sea level, is located in Kristianstad. Kristianstad is in the area of Kristianstad Vattenrike Biosphere Reserve – a protected area of swamp by the Hammar Lake.
ATTRACTIONS
There are numerous attractions to visit in Kristianstad. Top of them are: Naturum Vattenriket Visitor Centre (free entrance), very impressive, historical church of Holy Trinity, beautiful castle and gardens of Backaskog slott, a great military museum – Swedish Artillery Museum and the Railway Museum. Do not miss bicycle tours, some fishing, lake exploring and river cruise.
