ATTRACTIONS
In 1870 – 1872, a French camp of dozen thousands war prisoners was founded in here. Due to bad prison conditions, exhaustion and diseases, many prisoners died. They were buried in a nearby located camp cemetery, hence the valley is named after it.
In summer of 2018, a sculpture was unveiled in memorial of these prisoners. Author of artistic composition – sculptor Kęstutis Musteikis. The sculpture – bench with a bird – was built in a place, from where the panorama of the Valley of Death opens up.
