LOCATION
Nationalpark Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft is a nature reserve located on the Baltic Sea coast between the Darss-Zingst Peninsula, the Isle of Hiddensee and the west coast of the Isle of Ruegenin northern part of Germany.It is the largest national park in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.The park was established in 1990. 55°47′N 12°51′E

SCENIC CHARACTER
Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft is unspoiled and natural park. The landscape is unique and diversified. There are forests, marshy hollows, sea barrages, reed flats, salt flats and dunes. Reed flats (inaccessible and unexplored) remain habitat for different species of shy birds as reed warbler, reed kite, redshank, curlew, coot and others. Basically this landscape was formed during the Ice Age. The shallows, close to the park coast, are well known as a very important roost for cranes.
ATTRACTIONS
The park is known for being the biggest place of wintering for cranes in Europe. Every autumn over 30.000 of birds come there. Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft is also a leisure retreat for tourists. Visitors can admire wonderful nature, relax, observe birds and plants impossible to see elsewhere. The park offers many possibilities for active time spending as cycling and hiking. There is a wide network of paths with breathtaking views over the countryside.
