ATRACTION DESCRIPTION
The most popular region in Central Europe, that cranes visit and stay in is a region of the national park „Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft“. During the day cranes are looking for food around the park on the agricultural fields, but for a night they return to the bird islands or to the roost sites in shallow waters of the Bodden chain. There are several observation points of cranes in the Rügen island. When cranes start their dance, they line up as a long string in front of the reg glow during sunset. The noisy spectacleends with the sunrise, when birds feel hunger and start searching for food. Twice a year cranes dance for exercise, communication, courtship, alarm, or just a display of good spirits. These birds like to dance in pairs, and dancing forms a part of their courtship ritual. In the National Park of Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft It is expected to see about 50000 birds at the same time in autumn.
