LOCATION
Szczecin is situated at the mouth of the Oder River and Szczecin Lagoon, near the Baltic Sea and German border. It is the biggest city and capital of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. Szczecin is bordered to the south-west by Dąbie Lake.
SCENIC CHARACTER
Szczecin is a city with a population of 400,000 and an abundance of green areas: parks, avenues and roundabouts. The harbor in Szczecin plays an important role in transportation and fishery – it is the third largest port in Poland. The city is partly situated in Szczecin Landscape Park in the forest of Puszcza Bukowa. Szczecin Lagoon covers an area of 687 km² and is shared by Germany and Poland. Due to its location in Oder estuary, there are many channels abounding in fish, both marine and freshwater.
