LOCATION

The Drawa is a popular aquatic trail that takes in extraordinary landscapes. It is a tributary of the Noteć River and has its source at Krzywe Lake (in Dolina Pięciu Jezior Nature Reserve). It then flows across Drawski Landscape Park, Drawieński National Park and Drawski forest.

DIVERSE FLOAT ROUTE

The most popular kayaking course on Drawa usually starts from Stary Drawsk, where Drahim Castle overlooks the village. The hardiest kayakers, however, start from Czaplinek and cross the lake, often battling the wind. The water here is so clean that you can see the river bottom. As you arrive in the village of Głęboczek, you can admire its historical watermill.

Bory Karwickie is next and probably the most interesting part of the course. As you enter the water of Lubie Lake you will find yourself in a paradise. Due to a much steeper gradient the current is much stronger and the river flows with more power. The scenery at this point is truly unforgettable thanks to fallen beeches that strewn the winding ravines. Further down the river, for few kilometres, the riverbed is full of yellow water-lilies. At one point kayakers have to cross a closed area – Drawski Training Ground where an access pass is necessary.

ATTRACTIONS

The Drawa river flows near various historical buildings, like Drahim Castle, built in 1360 by the Order of Saint John and now turned into the museum or Wendel’s Castle from the 14th century. Hydro power stations from the 19th century, located along the river – in Boroko, in Gus and a smaller one in Młynowo – make an interesting attraction for tourists but an obstacle for kayakers. They have to bypass this hindrance by carrying their kayaks along the river bank, but the industrial atmosphere these power stations create is priceless.

A highlight of the course is entering the Drawieński National Park, where you can truly be at one with nature. On one of the banks tourists can encounter one of the biggest glacial erratics in this area – Wydrzy Głaz.

The Brda river

The Brda river and surrounding area is also a nice place to visit, easily accessible for both adults and children. You can start your kayaking on this river at the village of Nowa Brda. In the summer time many tourists come here to enjoy the varied landscape and meadows with special flora along this kayaking course. There are numerous marinas on the river banks where you can relax. You can finish your kayaking in Małe Swornegacie with a visit to a good restaurant. You can also rent bicycles here.
