SCENIC CHARACTER

Ivösjön is a popular destination for those who want to experience the relaxing and tranquil countryside of north-eastern Skåne. Here you can escape the stress of everyday life for an experience in the wilderness. Ivösjön, as a large lake, has many islands and coves, Ivön being the largest of them. It is the largest island in the whole of the Skånes region with a small resident population and a regular ferry service.

ATTRACTIONS

The fishing in the lake is amazing – you can catch plenty pikes and perch here. The north-eastern part of Ivösjön offers paddling both in the lake and in the Holjeån River. Here there are several uninhabited islands where you can live the Robinson life for a day or even longer. There are also plenty of coves and beaches that you can visit by canoe. Finding your own little bathing spot, where you can relax completely undisturbed, is no problem at all. Several of the islands have access to barbecues, benches and information boards with maps. You can also take the ferry to the island of Ivön. The ferry runs between Barum and Ivön (in Ivösjön, north-west of Bromölla in Skåne). The ferry route is 700 meters long and the crossing time is only seven minutes – the journey is free of charge.
