MALMÖ’S SURFING HOTSPOTS

All Malmö’s surfing hotspots are located on the western shore of Skåne, along the Öresund strait – a place where the salty waters of the North Sea mix with the fresher waters of the Baltic. The exposure to the west creates perfect wind conditions, however for most of the year waves are low or moderate (typically flat). Small beaches and grassland areas border most of the hotspots, which allows for comfortable access to the sea. These characteristics make this area a very attractive spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing courses organized by numerous surfing schools. The diversity of the coasts around Malmö offers both shallow and deeper waters, which can suit different types of surfing.

ATTRACTIONS

The whole region of Skåne is a very beautiful part of Sweden. It includes different attractions, ranging from cultural heritage sites (old castles, cathedrals, churches, historic cities, picturesque towns and villages), to natural heritage sites (agricultural areas, national parks and nature reserves). The region also has a dense network of biking routes that allows for exploration of the region’s cultural and natural beauty in an active way. Located very close to Copenhagen, the region is dotted with small islands, the most famous of which is the island of Ven. Another landmark of the area is the Öresund Bridge, which connects Sweden with Denmark.
