LOCATION

Despite the fact that in Bornholm Island everything starts in Rønne in the western part of the Island, the surfing hotspots are located in the eastern part of Bornholm, mostly in Eastwind watersports centre in Balka, and on the Dueodde Strand. Both places are located around 30 kms from the Island capital. Bornholm island can be accessed either on the ferry from Ystad (Sweden) Køge (Zealand, Denmark)  and Sassnitz (Germany, Rügen Island). In summertime there are direct ferries from Świnoujście (Poland).  In Rønnethere is also a small airport which service flights to Copenhagen. Geographical location of the Bornholm Island capital Rønneis:  55°06′N 14°42′E.

BORNHOLM SURFING HOTSPOTS

The two main watersports places are located in south – eastern part of Bornholm. It is approximately half an hour drive from Rønne. Both places possess broad white sand beaches. The shallow waters allow to use those places for training beginners. The places are east oriented and have typically low flat  waves but energetic winds. Eastwind watersports centre in Balka is located near the quaint old fishing village of Snogebæk. Dueodde Strand  is the most famous beach on Bornholm. As maintains visitDenmark the sand is ultra-fine and inviting. The water is clear and clean with lots sand bars, so there is both shallow and deep water close to the shore. The beach is long for several kilometres on both sides of the southern cap of the island.

ATTRACTIONS

Bornholm Island contains plenty of attractions which may enrich surfing vacations by other activities. They include such activities as biking, kayaking, hiking, birds observation, nature sightseeing in reserves. The island has got a couple of interesting museums, historical ruins, churches, windmills. Bornholm is always associated with picturesque small towns and villages, including fishermen villages and harbors. Some palaces look like from the middle ages. The island is not industrialized what creates good conditions for calm relaxation. The island is surrounded by diversified coasts with broad beaches in the East and more steep coasts in the West and North.
