8. Kayaking in Parsęta river and Kołobrzeg citytour

LOCATION

The Parsęta is a river of the South Baltic Coastland, in northwestern Poland, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, flows from the Parsęcka area in the Drawskie Lakeland, about 7 km northwest of Szczecinek.

Kołobrzeg is a health resort town in north-western Poland at the estuary of the Parsęta River, on the Baltic Sea.

 

SIGHTSEEING

Among the coastal attractions of the Kołobrzeg city is 220 meters long pier, which is the longest reinforced concrete pier in Poland and a lighthouse built in 1946. Along the beach runs The Boulevard of Jan Szymański.

Kołobrzeg is also on the list of cities of the European Route of Brick Gothic. An example of Gothic architecture in the city is the St. Mary’s Basilica and the Lontowa Tower. In turn, neo-Gothic monuments include, above all, the town hall, the post office building in Kołobrzeg, and the rector church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

 

ATTRACTIONS

The waters of the Parsęta River are the habitats of rare or dying fish species (eg lamprotips, certa), as well as attractive for angling (salmon, brown trout). The Parsęta river is a paradise for ornithologists (over 180 species). You can observe here numerous species of birds, such as: cranes, swans, herons, storks, birds of prey: eg buzzards, hawks. In the surrounding forests you can meet wild boar, deer, roe deer. It is also the habitat of several hundred years old oaks and the beautifully blossoming Pomeranian honeysuckle. Kayaking on the Parsęta River (157 km) has a various character. Some stages are easy, some are intermediate, but there are also very difficult stages. The last stage that we propose during this trip (aurond 20 km), it is easy and finishes in Kołobrzeg. It is a resort town with a rich history for over a thousand years. Accomodation in the city.
