RØDVIG SURFING HOTSPOT

Rødvig’s coastal area is considered to be one of the windiest places on the Baltic coast of Denmark. Being a lively tourist location and active fishery port, Rødvig town is an excellent point to start wandering along the cliffs, which can be accessed from above, as well as from sea level. These cliffs are up to 40 metres tall and are made of eroded white chalk, which gives the cliffs their eye-catching colour. In 2014 Stevns Klint was designated as a UNESCO Heritage Site. For a long time, its chalk was exploited for local economic gain. The cliffs here are made of a special material – bryozoan chalk, which is resistant to the shocks from both nuclear and conventional weapons – and therefore it is a home to a Cold War museum.

Another place of interest in this area is Højerup Church, which was built in around 1200. Tragically, a section of it collapsed into the sea in 1928.
