ATTRACTION DESCRIPTION

St. Dominic’s Fair was established at the request of the Dominicans in 1260. At that time hundreds of ships with goods entered the port of Gdańsk. You could buy Toruń gingerbreads, Kashubian ceramics and many regional products at the fair. The Second World War caused the disappearance of the fair for over 30 years. St. Dominic’s Fair was reactivated in the 1970s and nowadays the fair lasts three weeks. The fair is accompanied by several hundred hours of cultural and entertainment programme (such as outdoor stages or festivals). The city authorities solemnly open St. Dominic’s Fair every year by giving keys to city gates to merchants.
