LOCATION
Sopot is located in the Gdańsk bay, between Gdańsk and Gdynia, with which it forms the Tri-City. It is therefore perfectly connected. It can be reached from Gdynia or Gdańsk by buses, trams, trains, cars and even by plane which lands in Gdansk. 54°26′N 18°33′E
ATTRACTIONS
Sopot is a seaside and health resort, after the Second World War known for the Sopot Festival song competitions organized there since 1961. The city has the longest wooden pier in Europe.On the southern part of the Sopot beach there is a fishing harbor. Every day you can buy fresh fish and see the exhibition of typical boats and fishing equipment. There is a chapel in the marina for the “happy return from the sea”.Sopot beach is also attracted by its accessibility and attractions: playgrounds for the youngest, sunbeds for sunbathing enthusiasts and a number of activities for sports fans.The main promenade of the seaside resort is Monciak. It runs on the site of a former dirt road connecting the Sopot village with a fishing village on the seafront from the 17th century. For the most part, residential buildings are built on both sides from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. At Monciak there are many restaurants, cafes and clubs.
