ATTRACTIONS

In 1321, Bishop Konrad, initiated the construction of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 1394, the church tower was erected from the funds of Duke Bogusław VIII, and later the sacristy and side chapels were added. In a fire in 1679, caused by lightning, the entire interior of the church and the tower was burnt down.

The sanctuary, standing right next to the Market Square, behind the Town Hall, presents the gothic style. In the side chapel below the tower there are sarcophagus of the Pomeranian duke Erik I and duchess Jadwiga and Elżbieta – wives of the last two Pomeranian dukes.

In the church attention is drawn to the richly decorated baroque pulpit. It comes from 1700.

It is made of wood, carved, raised on the figure of an angel.
