ATTRACTIONS
Rostock’s shipbuilding and maritime museum is situated on the 10,000 tons former motor vessel DRESDEN, which now bears the name “Traditionsschiff Typ Frieden”. The ship has been moored to the bank of the Warnow River opposite the sea port of Rostock since 1970.
The museum onboard the ship displays an exhibition with many unique attractions from shipping history of the Baltic region, as well as sea plane construction, marine research and sailing. Interesting exhibitions on maritime history and traditional shipbuilding experience are waiting for visitors. The most important of the installations on board have remained intact and are accessible to visitors, including the engine room with the four (!) main and auxiliary engines, the navigation bridge with the chart room and the wireless room, the main deck with the all the cargo handling gear and the ships hospital.
