LOCATION

Ivö Lake is located in the northeastern part of Skåne County, in the municipalities of Kristianstad and Bromölla. It is famous for fishing and sightseeing. The lake is surrounded by charming fishing villages, old castles, unique monuments and unprecedented nature.. 56°11′N 14°44′E

SCENIC CHARACTER

The lake is characterized by its picturesque islands, mystic bays, surrounded by forests, hills and fertile soils. It is the deepest (maximum depth of 50 meters) and largest (55 km2) lake in the county. Only the largest island on the lake – Ivö is inhibited. Lake’s water is a great richness of fish species, the richest in Sweden. There are around 30 different species regularly caught in the lake including pikesalmonburbotvendacebreamideruffeminnowrudd. Worth mentioning isspined loachthat is rare for this area. The area by the lake is located in special climate zone. It is called Scania’s fruit district. The region is very suitable for fruit tree cultivation.

ATTRACTIONS

In the high season there are fishermen willing to catch fishes. There are many possibilities for sightseeing and relaxing as boating, kayaking, cruising. In the low season the lake is also peaceful, amazing, remarkable and worth visiting. There are many fishing camps in the area, offering good accommodation conditions. Visiting Ivö Island and Bromölla is recommended.
