LOCATION
The European Solidarity Centre is situated in Gdańsk (Poland), which is located at the mouth of the Motława River, on the southern edge of the Bay of Gdańsk. Gdańsk is the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and is communicated with main Polish cities by roads and railways. Available also from the sea. There is also an airport. 54°22′N 18°38′E.
The European Solidarity Centre – Room D
ATTRACTION DESCRIPTION
The European Solidarity Centre is a very young cultural institution, opened in 2014. It is located near the historic Shipyard’s Gate No. 2. The museum was created to commemorate the Solidarity movement (the Polish anticommunist democratic opposition) and the victory over communism in Europe. The permanent exhibition on Solidarity is located on two floors. The exhibition includes, among others the boards with the 21 demands from the strike of August 1980 that are included in UNESCO’s international Memory of the World Register. The European Solidarity Centre conducts educational, scientific, publishing and exhibition activities.
