LOCATION
The Castle is located on the Castle Hill, in the heart of Szczecin, in the vicinity of the Odra River. The castle can be reached in just 20-minute walk from the train station – Szczecin Glowny. To Szczecin there are daily several trains connections from all major Polish cities. Szczecin also has the best road connection with Western Europe of all Polish cities. 53°25′N 14°33′E
ATTRACTIONS
The Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle in Szczecin (Szczecin Castle) is one of the main centres of cultural life in the Western Pomerania. Duke’s Court existed on Tryglaw’s Hill already in time of christianisation of Western Pomerania (1124-1128). It became the centre of power at the turn of the 12th and 13th century. In the 16th century the castle was completely refurbished and get its current Renaissance style. In World War II it was badly damaged and since then the castle is undergoing continious reconstructions. Currently castle houses a museum, the local opera, various cultural institutions and gastronomy. Here take place chamber, classical music concerts, choral concerts such as The International Choral Festival, Sunday Noon Concerts, Chamber Music Evenings at the Candles. In the northern and southern wings of the Castle, there are artistic exhibition galleries, where are presented about 30 exhibitions each year.
