LOCATION
Sassnitz is a resort city in north Germany. It is situated on the Rugen island in German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 54°31′N 13°38′E. It’s a good spot to start a sea voyage, because it is well connected by ferries with Poland and Scandinavian countries.

Best known attraction of Sassnitz is the longest breakwater jetty in Europe, but there is much more than meet the eye. Under the sea the shipwrack of ferry Hevelius lies near the coast. That is the reason why Sassnitz is often chosen by divers. Another interesting attraction is a footbridge between a harbor and a city center. One should consider also visiting Butterfly Park or Museum for Underwater Archaeology.
