LOCATION

Karlshamn Archipelago is actually known as Archipelago of Hällaryd. It is the most southerly in Sweden, situated in Blekinge County (extends from the west side of Karlshamn to the southeast corner of Blekinge). Karlshamn 56°10′N 14°51′E.

SCENIC CHARACTER

The Archipelago consists of about 60 islands, and hundreds of islets, barely permanently inhabited by people year-round. The coastline The coastline is very diversified in attitude. Almost 270 picturesque islets and islands vary of sizes. They fascinate with craggy shores and breathtaking copses and meadowland. The largest island and lying the furthest is Tärnö. Others are Joggesö, Ekö, Hallö, Östra, Bokö, Fölsö and Tjärö. In the past The islands were used for seasonal fishing. In the 16th century the bigger islands got a permanent population of fishermen, hunters and cattlemen.

ATTRACTIONS

The islands seems to be created to feast one’s eyes with idyllic meadows and stone walls. There are leafy walking trails among grazing animals and singing birds in nature reserve. The largest – Tärnö offers seaside shacks for rent. You can also enjoy a cup of coffee on a jetty near the only grocery store in archipelago called Laxboden. Red farm buildings, farmhouses and cottages enchant on Tjärö. It feels as if time has stood still.
