LOCATION

The Kashubian Lake District is located in northern Poland and is the highest located of all Pomeranian lakes. The best way to reach the Kashubian Lake District is by car. The national roads no. 6, 7 and 20 run through the region, as well as voivodeship roads no. 216, 218, 221, 222, 224, 226. It is also possible to reach by train. Two railway lines Nowa Wieś Wielka – Gdynia Główna and Chojnice – Kościerzyna pass through the lake district.

ATTRACTIONS 

The Kashubian Lake District is the most diversified natural region in Pomeranian Voivodeship. Beautiful landscapes, lakes, rivers, hills, forests, fields. The lake district covers an area of about 3000 km2and there are over 500 lakes mostly of post-glacial origin. There are two Landscape Parks: Kaszubski and Trójmiejski and over 25 nature reserves. The capital of the Lake District is Kartuzy, rich in numerous monuments of sacred architecture. Another interesting place is a burial ground and a place of worship from the early Roman period located on the Długie Lake. The main center of folk art is Kościerzyna. It is worth to climb to the top of Wieżyca. The tradition of hiking up the mountain dating back to the 19th century from this period has remained an observation tower from which extends an incredibly picturesque landscape. The Kashubian Lake District is best explored through organized waterways that connect the individual lakes of the Pojezierze region in a very interesting way. It is a great place to hiking, cycling and canoeing.
