LOCATION

With a total of 3055km² the historic province of Blekinge is a smaller province in Sweden. Blekinge Län, located in southern Sweden, borders on Småland to the north, the Baltic Sea to the east and south and the province of Skåne to the west. Especially in the south Blekinge has countless small islands, the archipelago. The coast is very rugged and has many small bays. The capital of the province is Karlskrona. There are also larger towns such as Karlshamn, Ronneby, Olofström and Sölvesborg. In particular Mörrum river (Mörrumsån) belongs to this region.

SCENIC CHARACTER

The county of Blekinge has many fish-rich lakes and rivers. The region is known for its large salmon population. The landscape is characterized by many coniferous or beech forests and fields. There is a lot of agriculture in this part of Sweden. The historic towns of Karlskrona and Karlshamn are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are beautiful old coastal towns. The archipelago is particularly beautiful. Furthermore, there are many white beaches.

ATTRACTIONS

In the region there is a varied offer of special attractions. The forests, rivers, lakes and the beautiful coastline invite you to go hiking. The region is also very popular with anglers, especially the river Mörrumsån. A boat will take you to the mostly uninhabited islands. The archipelago invites you to relax.

Besides the beautiful nature in Blekinge, the historic towns Karlskrona and Karlshamn are worth a visit. In Karlskrona there is the Blekinge Museum, the ‘Admiralskirche’ and the naval harbor as well as the bastion as a world cultural heritage. Karlshamn has a beautiful historical quarter with old wooden houses. There are also a number of small fishing villages with old harbors and great restaurants in the region.
